18/08/2010: MY 21ST IN LONDON .

On 17th August, it was my 21st birthday. I have to say this birthday has been the best I've ever had. I'm not a big drinker or party person so I went to see family on the weekend before and on the Tuesday, I organised to go to London with my friend Josh to see Ray Harryhausen's exhibition at the London Film Museum which is near the London Eye. I'd never been inside this museum and I really enjoyed it because I’m such a big film fan. We saw 75th Anniversary of 20th Century Fox and the Charlie Chaplin exhibition also, but Ray's exhibition was my favourite. For anyone who doesn't know who Ray Harryhausen is he is animator who worked on films such as the original Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts and the Sinbad films to name a few. This year he turned 90 so I believe this event is to do with that but also as Ray now lives in the UK he has been campaigning his foundation to preserve these great pieces of film history. I have many memories of watching these films on rainy days off in the school holidays, so to come face-to-face with his work was amazing!

I took some photos from the day and also I recently did a picture for a birthday card. Aedan, my friend was given a Wii lightsaber control holder when we first met which has been a little joke with us for some time and now the joke continues...

04/08/2010: CLASH OF THE TITANS.
The last 4 days, I've been sat at my desk for around 40 hours... crazy that I did it for nothing, but as I'm a week away from handing in my 1st year of university coursework in for marking, I fancied doing a painting. Last year I did a large, A1 painting of Walt Disney's Pinocchio for my Nan to hang in our living room. This year I decided to see how much I've improved in my work by tackling a more realistic subject... well realistic-looking subject... Clash Of The Titans.
I saw the film recently, having grown up with the original and I really liked it. Not just cause Gemma Arterton is very, very hot but overall it kept my attention for 2 hours and that's a task in itself. I looked at the promotional posters and fell in love with the one I painted, below.

18/07/2010: NEW WEBSITE AND ARTWORK.
This summer, workwise has been brilliant. I've kept myself very busy with projects. I entered a competition for Bonobo Publishing to illustrate a series of books, unfortuantly I was unsucessful. On the positive side I recently did a drawing for a London Hospital as a request for some new artwork for thier new building. I created a piece called We Run This Town (image 4, below). I have done some logo work for a photographer called Brenda Scott in Carolina. www.imagetru.com. And I worked on a cartoon voodoo doll for The Prototype feat. CEE's iTune single covers and merchandise. Other than that, I've been sketching and drawing some personal pieces including design and tests for a short animation film called Creepton Hill (based on my NOA entry). :
NOA COMPETITION.
With university finished I have been job hunting. But recently I've had a lot of freelance work which is great. I've done some work for a musician (artwork of that will appear when the t-shirts are released but you can see it on my Deviantart page) and I've entered myself into The National Open Art Competition. My enter is Creepton Hill. It's an A1 piece that took me 2 full days to complete. I've very happy with it, it's true to my style and my imagination. View it by clicking the image below...
